Miniature Elephant

I painted this in a miniature painting workshop at Udaipur. We were in the middle of a 10 day Rajasthan trip covering Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Chittorgarh, Kumbhalgarh, Udaipur, Bundi and ending in Jaipur. Our neighbours from Noida were visiting their family in Udaipur. So when I texted her, I told her we could take her kids out along with my daughter. She proposed the opposite - to drop my daughter off with her. So we dropped her off in the morning and went to City Palace - where I saw several RagaChitra paintings for the first time. It was really hard to tear myself away from these tiny beauties. And then we went to the market and I spent the afternoon painting this picture, while my husband went to the ghat nearby to take pictures. Of course when we returned to pick my daughter up, we were treated to a homemade delicious Rajasthani dinner.

We have been to some really special places, but my daughter always maintains Udaipur is her favorite holiday place because she got to play with her best friend. I guess that means we never have to travel anywhere as long as she gets to play with her friends.
