We received some fabric with cute baby patterns as gifts. So when we needed more than one fitted sheet for the crib mattress, I decided to use up all the fabric and sew fitted sheets myself instead of buying more. I followed this tutorial to get me started. It's one of the easiest sewing projects ever! I don't think I'll ever buy fitted sheets again!
The first one below is from a flat single bed sheet. The crib mattress we have is 28x52x5 inches. So I cut out a rectangle 46x70 inches and cut out 9 inch squares from the 4 corners and joined them together to get the boxed corners. Leaving just a 1/8 inch give in the hem for the 1/4 inch elastic, I threaded the elastic with a safety pin.
This second one is from bits and pieces from a quilt project and the first fitted sheet. I joined the pieces to get a 46x70inch rectangle and then cut out 9 inch squares from the corners.
This last one is my favorite. I absolutely love the fun print in the center. A close up of the print is below.
