Tailored Printer Cover

We love our HP Photo printer. We have several framed prints of our vacation pictures all over the house.

So when I got in a mood for sewing one day, I decided to stitch a cover for our printer. I had this great bargain fabric from Walmart that was just perfect for the printer.

The design and measurements took me a while. It took me almost half a day to figure out how to go about stitching the cover for the front projection. I ended up cutting out a rectangular section of the front piece slightly smaller than the boxed cover for the front projection to allow for seam allowance. I stitched that part separately and then attached it to the main front piece.

The other thing I had to be careful about was making sure the lines in the fabric pattern were all in the same direction (horizontal).

The sewing part itself was pretty interesting in that I have never made anything box shaped before. I learnt how to do this from the TV show Sew It All. I thought the corners came out very neat.

The cover fits the printer like a glove, yayyy! There is nothing more satisfying than designing something from scratch and seeing it come to life!

Let me know what you think of it in the comments section.
